When we do good with strings attached, we poison the soil:
We help a friend and secretly wait for them to return the favor.
We work hard and become bitter when recognition doesn’t come.
We give generously and feel resentment when it’s not acknowledged.
Expectation turns generosity into a transaction. It turns service into investment banking. The moment the expected return fails to arrive, joy withers, motivation dies, and the “fruit” becomes sour or drops off entirely.
Allow our right action to flow naturally from a mind free of craving.
